A Millennial Hope

Well, I learned some startling statistics last Sunday. Christians really are one generations from extinction in America. I know what you're thinking...I know Amy I have heard that all my adult life. Yes, but I have the stats to back it up. 65% of the WWII generation(pre-1947) profess to be Bible believing Christians, 37% of Baby Boomers(1947-1964)do, 18% of Gen. Xers(1965-1981), and a mere 4% of Millennials(1981-2003). My friends guess where that leaves our children? Provided that they choose to follow Christ they will be in the 1%. Something radical must happen before our children grow up and take over the country. History shows that it is up to the Millennial generation to do something. In the past every 4th generation has been responsible for major change. They are the 16th generation. Do the math and you will see that change is going to come through those that are between the ages of 29 and 6. It truly is amazing to think what might come of our country in the hands of this generation. They are the trail blazers for our children's generation and we are the trail blazers for them. In college I used to find myself thinking that our generation had a very important role to play in generation right behind us. I now know that we do. I am issuing a call to prayer. Right now it is our duty to first pray for the Millennial generation. We need to pray that God will be their guide and not the world that they are so involved in. We need to pray that God will take this 4% and use them for his glory to grow this generation spiritual. Then we need to invest heavily in their lives that they have no doubt who their Creator is and that he sent a Savior. It truly is time for Revival. It will be interesting to see just how young the spark is that starts it. What part will you have had when the history books report of the "Revival of 20??"?

Wrinkles in time

I know that I am terrible at updating and to that I am very sorry. My kids keep growing up and it has just been crazy with this Clydesdale family as of late. In July we found out that we were moving to Bossier City,LA. That of course consisted of packing, finding a place to live and oh moving there. Throw two little people on top of that and you have chaos. My friends were a big help and if it were not for Cari we would have been dragging Jayla and Joshua to LA several times that month. Of course the life of a youth minister does not stop. So, while he was "working" at camp, I was left at home to get the finishing details taken care of. We had a beautiful send off by the church and then more chaos. We went to Nashville for a few days because our furniture took a week to go three hours. When we did arrive at Shasta (which is how I refer to our rent house because it is on Shasta Drive) there was no hot water. That was a treat! Once we did get our water turned on and the stuff moved in things did calm down a bit. We have been able to go back to Arlington a few times. Joshua and I went for Eli's walk, Greg went for the World Series, and the kids and I just returned home from a visit with friends.

This last road trip got me thinking. There's a lot of thinking that can be done on 20 E where there is nothing to look at but trees. I started thinking about memories and the things that I remember from life. I realized that my memories are from the wrinkles in time or when things fall outside of the mundane. We don't remember our normal days but our abnormal days. The days that just don't fit into the puzzle we call life. Some of these days are filled with fun and adventure, while others are filled with tears and sadness. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 calls us to be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. I am thankful that God gives us little wrinkles in time to help us to appreciate life's twists and turns but to also appreciate the quiet day to day normal.

Fu da bee!

So our little princess is now talking up a storm. A lot of it we can not understand but she just goes on and on.. epically at the dinner table. Recently she has been throwing out this new word that I thought I had figured out but now I think I am wrong. The other day I was getting Jayla ready for bed when she pointed to her ceiling and said, "Fudabee, Mommy." I looked up and it seemed like she was pointing at the butterfly hanging there. This made since to me and I proceeded to tell Greg that I figured out what fudabee meant. The very next day, as usual, she decided to prove me wrong by calling something else a "fudabee." She has even called Greg a "fudabee" one day when she was mad at him. The only conclusion I can come to is that she uses it when she just does not know what or how to say something. So in closing...

FUDABEE!

Single mothers

Every time that my dear husband goes out of town I have to give single mothers props. I have no idea how they do it day in and day out. I have no idea how they get up every morning, get dressed, get kids dressed and fed, off to daycare and the on to work...and that all be for 8 am. Then come the stresses of work and whatever that is. Followed by what to make for dinner, picking up the kids, feeding kids, bathes and bed. Then they squeeze in everything I do during the day. My hat goes off to you ladies. So, if you run into a single mom at the park that just looks like she could use a break...be the break...you have husband who's coming home. I'm just say'n.

And She's off

I am happy to report that Jayla is officially walking! She has been one balanced baby for at least a month or two. It was not until Tuesday afternoon that SHE decided to walk. We have been trying and trying to get her to take step with everything from M&Ms to her favorite baby. She would to it for about 5 steps just to get the applause...(I think she's in to words of affirmation) but that was it-until Tuesday. Tuesday, after her nap, she was the only one up. I was preparing dinner and she was playing with her babies in the hall. Something came over her that caused her to stand up and walk down the hall. I thought for a moment that I was just seeing things. She sat down and I was sure she would be off and crawling. NOPE, she got back up and just started walking again. For the most part she has been walking since. Oh I do look forward to the day when she is strong enough to do this all the time, but oh how my baby is growing up!

Joshua Car trips

I have told my sister that I am going to blog Joshua's crazy little conversations. Today we were riding in the car(this is where most Joshua-ism happen)when Joshua informs me that he wants to see Eli. I told him that we would not be seeing Eli today of which caused a mini melt-down. This was then followed by "I won't see my Cari." Apparently, Cari was the real reason Joshua wants to see Eli. I informed him that we would be eating lunch with Emma Grace. This apparently brought back memories of eating Chinese food with Emma Grace (which happened in January and we have eaten with her many times since then)and he decided that that he wanted rice in a bowl...that bowl. There is no bowl in sight..remember we are in the car. I being the super mom that I am figured out that he was referring to our Chinese food trip (the only one he has had) and asked if he wanted Chinese food. He said "Yes, and Daddy is going to Chinese."

Yesterday as we were going into Walmart, Joshua discovers the numbers on the side of the building. To which he informed me "Walmart's address is 4800 Walmart, Texas." I thought I am sure Walmart thinks so too.

Sunday, while coming home from dinner(in the car),Joshua was going on and on about how we needed to play Wii golf and bowling and that we needed to do all this on Saturday. In Joshua's world everyday is Saturday. I turned to the exited Joshua and told him that those were great ideas but today was Sunday to which he responded "Sunday! You got to be kidding me!"

Saturday, Greg asked Joshua what he wanted for lunch. Joshua replied with his usually "Peanut butter samich" Greg then proceeded to ask him if that was just his default...to which Joshua replied, "It's not a default, Daddy, it's a peanut butter samich."

FLOORS!

Yesterday I proud to announce that I accomplished a lot yesterday and my house is still a mess. I have already said that laundry is the most annoying thing around and that it is just another way God is punishing us for Eve's mistakes. If she had just listened and not eaten that darn fruit I would not be doing laundry every week! However, I have now found a more annoying chore than laundry...FLOORS! We have ALL laminate flooring except for the closets (they are carpet...not sure why that is just how we bought the house). Tracking in dirt everyday are the dog, my husband, me and two boys(Jayla gets a pass due to the fact that she refuses to walk). At least with carpet I could hide some of the mess...not with laminate. It's there for the world to see. It is hard enough to keep these floors clean without rain or snow. Add rain or snow into the mix and I might as well not touch my floors until spring...I think I just figured out why spring cleaning came about. Therefore, I have decided to retire from floors until spring. I am just sad I did not think of this sooner since spring is about a month away! I think mother bears are the ones that came up with hibernation just so they would not have to clean all winter!
